Thats right boys and girls, our venture at the DiGi Street Blast wasn’t a total failure, one lucky customer walked away with one Wheel_Love hat. We did the best that we could with the booth deco considering the amount of time we put into it (ie, “the night before”) and festooned the booth with prettily printed materials.
Also on display were of course our wares, which at this point consists of our t-shirts (most of them also printed the night before), caps (sewn barely 12 hours earlier) and MYCK wheels.
But our booth was by no means quiet, the free stickers we were giving away sure brought out the kiasuness in people.
Here is a pic of Naz and his proudly designed t-shirt which he made for the t-shirt designing contest. No dude… your vulva-themed t-shirt didn’t make the cut.
The skate competition, as predicted was a MAJOR washout, after all the A&P done to hype up the event, and bearing in mind last year’s DiGi MTV party, this year’s ramps were very very very dissapointing. Major negative brownie points for DiGi *shame shame*.
Next time, when you say “extreme sports”, please, something more than two 10 year old banks? You cheapo bastards. I feel incredibly sorry for the kids who came from out of state, hoping to compete, only to be greeted with this sorry ass “ramp”. To make matters worse, they only allowed 15 competitors per discipline.
*Tsk tsk*
The smarter choice would’ve been to sub out the event organising job to someone who has a clue. However, kudos to the competitors, for taking it on the chin and putting up a good show anyway. And no, in case you’re wondering, the rest of the activities weren’t any better either.
All in all, it could have been better but was a relatively fun day, I’m just glad our main source of revenue ain’t the flea market business, cus we’d be creamed!
p/s - Please feel free to let the good people at DiGi know what you thought about the event. Help them help you!

oh my!!!!!
not the smarter choice….
they’re just lucky there wasnt another skate event on the same day.
Luckly i’ve called a friend there and they told me not to come..it sucks!!!
U guys are lucky, we didnt even have any extreme comp in digi street blast pg,all the boarders and bmxers who came from far was so dissapointed. The only extreme thing is PAINTBALL.The streetfootball is the killer,i see major injuries with kids getting trip and flip while landing on their faces, damn…But i did make the crap cut of tshirt design contest for 3rd place. But they give me radio active’s female goodies…damn again…well it all ended a good session back in youthpark at 6pm, all the dissapointed boarders were in youthpark (including pakdin). Its a dissapoinment from digi, i think maxis would do better or even celcom maybe.
ouch – yea – we heard that it was worse in penang.
oh well – i guess theres a lesson in there somewhere. just because the event marquee has a big name brand on it doesnt guarantee a good event.
[...] If it sucked as much dick as we said it did, why does it deserve another post on the blog? Well, er… thats cus i just got the new Lomo Fisheye 2 camera and wanted to test it out. Check ‘em out: [...]
Hey about the t-shirt design which i got 3rd, they promise to reload my 016 phone with a rm200 talk-time, but well it seems like a week plus and they haven reload it for me???
oh wow – just gets worse and worse huh
[...] After last year’s disaster, its nice to see that DiGi trying to step up their game in this year Street Blast event. Did it work? Well…we weren’t expecting much to begin with. The ramps are much better no doubt, but… on tar road? are you serious? A pure “air” competition? Interesting…but no dice. [...]
its way worse back then when digi did the first street blast event in kuching. well i mean the bad stuff goes to the skate comp alone. the “park” is setup as if you are skating in the garage, very packed. and worst yet, its back to back with a streetfutsal field. the setups which digi brought along is only a shitty as ramp.
a comp organised by one of the biggest telco company in msia. good works DIGI for making us looking like lowlifes.
